Dance Party (all levels)

Our first social dance of the new year is January 21st at 7pm at St. Michael’s Anglican Church Hall. The cost is $2. We will have lots of music for your current dances. Come and have fun!!

Just bring your water bottle. We will bring light snacks. You may bring non-dancing guests, but please let them know that they will need to sign a liability waiver.

Level 1

Simply Blue is looking great — and your 3 dances from last week are too! — so our plan for next Friday is another new dance “Rockin’ the Wagon Wheel”.

This is a very popular piece of music in the Bow Valley, and it is great fun!!

Here is the full plan for Friday:

  • Warm up: Ah Si
  • Warm up: Cut a Rug
  • New: Rockin’ the Wagon Wheel
  • Review: Good Morning
  • Review: Simply Blue

Practice:

We will have practice on Tuesday (17th) at 1:00. The cost is $2.  We will review all four dances in your current repertoire.

Level 1.5

You picked up “Come Dance with Me” very well. It is such a favourite of ours that we are delighted to see you able to dance it with us already!!

You are learning new dances so quickly that we will teach a new dance this week.

Here is the full plan for Friday:

  • Warm up: Crash and Burn
  • Review: Come Dance with Me
  • New: Marvin Gaye AB
  • Review: Little Red Book
  • Time permitting: My Blue Tree

Practice:

We will have practice on Tuesday (17th) at 1:00. The cost is $2. We will review and dance some of your Level 1 dances (with our Level 1 dancers), and then practice Come Dance with Me and Little Red Book.

Level 2

Bosa Nova is looking really good!

It is so good that we will be teaching a new dance — a fun down-home country dance this week.

  • Warm up: Blue Night Cha
  • Review: Bosa Nova
  • New: Louisiana Swing
  • Quick review: Peligrosa
  • Review: Stitches
  • Time permitting: Homegrown

We will have practice time next Tuesday (17th) at 3:00. The cost is $2.

We will review Peligrosa, Stitches, and Bosa Nova. If time permits, we will review Homegrown and Imelda’s Way.

Level 3

“Blessed” is looking really good!!. And the rest of our Level 3 dances looked great too. Mary was really delighted with your progress — and we were so proud!!!!!!

We will be fully reviewing “Blessed”, and by request we will be teaching a new one too.

We have chosen a great long-time favourite dance “Toes” — a real Margaritaville-style dance. It is one of my favourites!! We may just get started on it, but I trust that you will love it.

Here is the full plan for this week:

  • Warm up: Gypsy Queen
  • Review: Blessed
  • New: Toes
  • “No-review” fun: Stitches or Homegrown

Practice:

We will have practice time next Tuesday (17th) at 3:00. The cost is $2.

This is designated as Level 2 review week, and our Level 3 dancers are welcome to join. We will review Peligrosa, Stitches, and Bosa Nova. If time permits, we will review Homegrown and Imelda’s Way.

If you have not mastered these dances, we highly encourage you to come to practice.

Reminders (All):

Please bring clean, non-marking shoes. No outdoor shoes are permitted on the dance floor.

Cheers,

Faye and Deb and Sharon
